Stylish farmhouse close to amenities

VF051  A magnificent and substantial four-bedroom, two-bathroom 'casa de campo' of some 300sq m, set in 2000sq m, and with large swimming pool, gardens, terraces, bar and dining areas.

Until recently this wonderful country house was a much loved family home. It is situated in the tiny country hamlet of Es Consell, a traditional Menorcan pueblecito, a seven-minute stroll from Sant Lluis.

The arched entrance doors open into a vast hall/reception room. To the left is the living room, a lovely, comfortable room sumptuously furnished with three large sofas, and with a fireplace and large TV, DVD, music system and digital decoder (access to full Sky package of channels), an air conditioning/heating unit, ceiling fan, telephone point and broadband internet access.

To the right of the entrance hall is the large (5x6m) kitchen, styled and designed to retain the charm of the rustic Menorcan farmhouse style, while offering all mod cons. The kitchen and large adjacent utility room and walk-in pantry boasts integral stainless steel AEG oven, ceramic electric hob and microwave, a huge American-style fridge-freezer with icemaker and chilled water dispenser, a further small fridge, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, etc. There is also a TV with Sky channels access, and an air conditioning/heating unit.

There is a further hall/reception room, furnished with an upright piano, a massive antique desk, matching chair, and occasional table.

BEDROOM ONE has two single beds set in antique frames and head boards - these beds can be separated or moved together - there is also a chaise-lounge, dressing table and chair, fitted wardrobes, ceiling fan and a TV (connected to the Sky digital box in the lounge, offering satellite channel access) and air conditioning/heating unit.

BEDROOM TWO is similarly furnished with two single beds with antique headboards and frames/footboards, antique chest of drawers, wardrobe, and TV (Sky channels from lounge digibox available), VCR, and air conditioning/heating unit.

BEDROOM THREE, to the left of the hall, offers an enormous king-size four-poster bed set in a beautiful wicker bed frame with matching head and foot boards, and a voil-curtained canopy above the bed; this bedroom also has a large leather Chesterfield-style sofa and matching foot stool, antique wardrobe, wall-mounted plasma TV and digital decoder with independent access to the full package of Sky and English language satellite channels. It is also equipped with an air conditioning/heating unit.

At the end of the interior hall is a luxury shower room/WC, which serves the three ground floor bedrooms. This has a large walk-in tiled shower.

Stairs from the interior hall/reception room lead up to the MASTER BEDROOM SUITE on the first floor, which is reached via another huge hall/reception room, with large desk and chair, telephone point with internet access. Double doors at the opposite end of this hall open on to a good-sized balcony equipped with easy chairs and sunbeds.

The master bedroom is truly massive and is furnished with a huge king-sized bed, chaise-lounge sofa, three antique storage chests and two rocking chairs, dressing table and mirror, and has a range of oak wardrobes running the length of one wall. There is also a TV with full Sky package satellite channels (linked to the decoder in the lounge, but with over-ride control facility from the bedroom), and a CD music system. It also have an air conditioning/heating unit, two ceiling fans and a telephone point.

Off the bedroom is a large luxury ensuite bathroom with walk-in  shower.

As well as full air conditioning, the house also boasts full gasoil central heating system throughout all rooms.

Outside there is a covered dining area with a long wood table and bench-style seating, and next to this a built-in, three-sided seating area with deep and comfortable sofa cushions. There is also a large covered bar area with a BBQ and chimney, large gas paella pan, fridge and sink. In the centre of the mares terrace is a covered wrought iron pergola over a large sofa/chaise lounge and table, plus additional seating.

Beyond this area is a lawned area and mares terracing, surrounding the lovely 10x4.5m pool. There are a range of typically Mediterranean shrubs and trees throughout the garden.

The total plot exceeds 2500sq m and offers tranquillity, seclusion and a wonderful, natural countryside setting. Friday change-over.

Resort information

Founded in 1761 by the French, Sant Lluis is an attractive small town of narrow streets. A small bypass runs around its perimeter and the town is pretty, quiet and quaint and well worth a visit. Its famous feature is the gaily painted blue and white windmill - the Moli de Dalt. Still in working order it houses a collection of old agricultural implements and is open to the public. In the main street, Carrer Sant Lluis, the church tower dominates the skyline. Dedicated in 1761 to the memory of Saint Louis (Louis IX), the church forms one side of a small square with a fountain. Opposite stands the tiny town hall and an obelisk erected by by the Comte de Lannion, who was Menorca’s first French Governor. Shops in Sant Lluis are traditional and eating out is varied and good value. Highly recommended is La Rueda, just down from the windmill, which offers some of the best tapas in the island. 1km outside Sant Lluis on the Es Castell road is the wonderful Biniarroca Hotel Rural. Well worth a visit is La Venta, situated near the roundabout turn to Punta Prima
