Attractions and activities
Port Addaya is an attractive, quiet and pleasant resort with several bar restaurants and a supermarket. Although it does not have its own beach (and therefore fewer crowds) it does have a pretty yacht marina with a waterside bar and some dramatic views. No big hotels and commercialism, a resort ideally suited to those wanting to get away from it all. Addaya photo gallery
Na Macaret is an old fashioned seaside village, something of a secret from the tourists, with low-level development. Mainly private villas and apartments with a small selection of good local restaurants above the beach. Very quiet and tranquil.

Cala Pregonda
A remote but stunning sandy beach, a 15min drive from Fornells/Son Parc, and then a 20min walk. Offshore rocky outcrops rise from the sea. Good snorkeling. No facilities
Cavalleria
A 15min drive from Son Parc/Fornells. A long sandy beach shelving down from sand dunes. Quite isolated with a very peaceful atmosphere
Cala Tirant
Situated near a new development close to Fornells, this sandy beach is near the port of Fornells and could be included in a visit to the area. Restaurants nearby

Son Saura, Son Parc
Above. Beautiful white sands surrounded by dunes and pine trees. Shallow water, sun beds and pedaloes for hire. Very safe for children. Beach bar
Arenal d'en Castell
Perfect horseshoe-shaped bay of fine sand, protected from the winds by the Punta Grossa headlands. Lively family beach with sunbeds, pedaloes and water sports on offer, bars and restaurants
Na Macaret
Small sandy beach, a haven for locals. Several good restaurants at the waters edge
Cala Presili
Situated near Cap de Favaritx lighthouse, between Es Grau and Addaya, this lovely white sand beach is reached by a 15min walk from the car park
Es Grau
Fabulous sandy beach forming a wide bay with very shallow water. Beach bar, car park. Ideal for young children
Son Parc is an attractive urbanisation of mainly private villas and apartments situated around Menorca's only golf course. There's a lovely sandy beach and a good selection of bars and restaurants.

Arenal d'en Castell is a larger, popular holiday resort with a superb setting and beach, ideal for families. There is a good selection of restaurants, shops and lively bars.
Arenal photo gallery
A pretty resort of low whitewashed cottages, fishing boats bobbing
on the harbour and restaurants on the
palm-lined promenade. Fornells is famous for
the excellent local
lobster stew, calderata de langosta, which is served in almost every restaurant, each different and with each chef jealously guarding their own recipe. Fornells is a Menorcan resort not to be missed.

Menorca has a multitude of restaurants. Many offer standard tourist menus and most offer a menu del dia (menu of the day) costing 7-10 euros - excellent value for money.
Many new restaurants open each season offering much more than standard tourist fare. In July and August advance bookings are advisable in very popular restaurants if you wish to eat after 8pm.
Local specialities are calderata de llagosta (lobster stew), paella, fresh fish and shellfish. Do not miss the locally made mayonnaise, an invention of Mahon (Mao).
Recommendations in the north
Las Plumas, Son Parc The restaurant in the Son Parc Golf clubhouse offers home-cooked specialities and international cuisine
Restaurant Ses Salines, Fornells Overlooking the bay, a relaxing place to eat, serving an excellent, beautifully presented and varied menu
Es Passeig Maritim, Fornells Everything from pizza to paella and a gourmet menu featuring octopus, mussels and lobster. Better value than some of the pricey waterfront restaurants
